Romance in the city can be tough, but we’ve made it easier with a curated list of events to try. Trust us, it’s much more fun than the mounting screen time stats.

Flirt Hard
Tattoo artist Meg Rees created the dating event Flirt Hard as a “fun and safe space for singles to connect in real life”. Once you are accepted for an event, Rees works behind the scenes with a sex and relationship coach to match you with someone on the night. Hosted at the swish Abuelo Cafe in Marylebone, you can sip away your nerves with a selection of natural wines. It’s not a prerequisite to be inked – but it wouldn’t go amiss either.

Pears Dating
Inclusive singles brand Pears Dating was created last year by five best friends on the day of love itself, Valentine’s Day. Their speed dating events are a far cry from stuffy singles socials of old and more akin to a fun night out where everyone happens to be single. Taking place at drag shows, bars and even festivals, their vibe is “low pressure, with great music, no cringe and always an afterparty”.

Soulmate Social
Founder Breagha Campbell is a modern day cupid and individually matches those who sign up for Soulmate Social herself – not an algorithm in sight. After Campbell couples you up, you get sent your date’s number to arrange a location and time for your rendezvous. You plan this for the same night as the other singles, so you can all come together at a Soulmate Social party after your dates. According to a testimonial on the site, “everyone was fit”, so that’s also a bonus.
